This week evil struck close to home as our friends at the private Catholic School in town  had a student get stabbed by another student.  Talk about shaking up our little world.  No matter how many cameras, safety programs, monitors, alarms or metal bars we utilize to bring us “security” – there seems to always be a way for evil to penetrate in.  The school's leadership handled the media and families with love and grace, an excellent example of living out I Peter 3: 8, 9 where it says "… be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.  Do not repay evil with evil or insult with insult. On the contrary, repay evil with blessing, because to this you were called so that you may inherit a blessing."

As parents, what is our defense against this evil?  How do we protect our children and prepare them for the battles and evil of life that will surely come their way?  There is an answer, and Lincoln Christian teaches this truth over and over again, Put on the FULL ARMOR of GOD  and be aware of weaknesses that can be potentially fatal to the spiritual battle if we are not prepared.

Ephesians 6:10-18

The Armor of God

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.  Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.  For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand.  Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,  and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.  Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.  And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the Lord’s people.
