Impact

When Brian and I enrolled our oldest at Lincoln Christian School as a Kindergartner, we really had no idea what kind of spiritual impact the 7th - 12th students were experiencing at Lincoln Christian.  We were just happy that our little angel would be loved, protected and taught about the love of Jesus every single day. We were so delighted with the growth and depth that she acquired during that time.  She felt the call of God on her life at a young age and we know that hearing His word every day confirmed that in her life. What about the years after elementary though?  I think some of the things that happen on the upper end are so GOOD that I want to make sure everyone has a chance to hear and plan on experiencing!

So, in case you have elementary only students and have never heard about what the Bible Department does in the Secondary - I think you are going to love hearing about what your children have to look forward to! Or if you currently have students in the secondary, it's a great reminder about what amazing opportunities there are here for our kids to grow, connect and be used for His glory.

RETREATS (normally held at Rivercrest Bible Camp in Fremont, NE)
The past couple of years, our Junior High students and teachers have been able to take time at the beginning of the year to go on a Retreat - this year the topic was "Stolen Identity; Reclaiming Our Identity in Christ".
The Senior students each year also have a day away on a Retreat for a time of bonding, growing, setting out their goals for finishing strong in their last year of high school.

"LCS CHAPEL" is something we do weekly for all students K-12th grade.  Secondary chapel has a music time that is student led that allows musically gifted students to use those gifts and talents to build up the school body.  Each Friday morning a different speaker comes and shares their testimony, heart, ministry or message with the entire secondary student body.  Parents are always welcome to attend chapel!

There is the" LCS FACETIME", the mentoring and discipling ministry.  Senior students mentor freshman, Juniors mentor eighth graders and Sophomores mentor seventh graders.  They can be one on one groups or even small groups together in some cases. This is to encourage and provide opportunities for our students to grow in ministry as they progress from for a "mentoring" relationship to an accountable, discipleship relationship.

Then there is the "LCS SERVE" aspect.  Junior High students are required to earn 600 points a year and High School students need 1000 points a year.  These points are 10% of the students overall grade. It isn't difficult to find ways to serve others and earn points, and it encourages our students to learn more about serving, putting others before self and looking for areas to be involved in their churches, community and neighborhoods.  What a great way to train young people to serve the Lord through serving others and get an early jump in life in this important area!

Nick Orduna is the head of the Bible Department here at Lincoln Christian and gives a handout to help parents and students learn about ways to serve.  The below is copied from his handout listing ideas and places/areas past students have served and earned points.
